Personally, I think this type of selfish behavior under the guise of 'divine inspiration' is all the more disgusting.
Resources on this planet are being stretched very thin and though 18 children may just seem like 'a few too many' right now, in 20 years when those children have children (2.6 is average) there will be approximately 46.8 kids and when those kids have kids, the number will be 121.68 more offspring.
Total number of Duggers in 40yrs? 2 (Parents)+18 (kids)+46.8 (grandkids) + 121.68 (great grandkids) = 188.48 Duggers from this gene pool. And, that is only if the children follow national averages, if any of them trace the footsteps of mom and dad it could potentially be much worse.
Thanks, Jim Bob and Michelle for personally doing your part to hasten starvation, famine and death for the less fortunate. I am sure your kids will be able to fix the overpopulation problem when they grow up and realize their parents didn't rely on reason for family planning, only good ol' biblical fornication.

I have a problem with ANYONE who uses their vagina as a Pez dispenser. The problem with Michelle Dugger is that she presumably lives in a country where she has received at least a basic education and where information (i.e. 'news') is readily available, she should know better. She should be aware of the overpopulation situation.
Instead, she is relying on a non-existent entity to tell her when to stop. At the same time, though they claim to not take charity or welfare, a quick search will reveal many fellow christians 'help them out' with things (gifts and volunteer time), when these works of charity could be applied to much more worthy causes.
And like JCE said, get the bug out of your ass.
I am concerned about the potential for overpopulation, but here in the US there is no overpopulation problem. We only take up 5% of the world's population and less than that for total land use of the North America. Canada is practically barren. Mexico has more land usage but that is typical of 3rd world countries.
Fact of the matter is, they live in a boutiful country, and are actually probably better off than you are. Imagine having 18 children and $0 debt. I'd like to see you try that. The family built their own house together. As long as they're productive members of society, they'll annul the 'overpopulation' portion to which they attributed. If one person can support 19 other people with his job and his political career, then even if these 18 children don't have as many children, they've learned the values of hard-work, perseverance, and family, and that's more than most people do. They'll do their part to support society when their times come. As Americans, we have a little room for overpopulation (the Social Security system could use more providers). If the countries that didn't have this room would shut down their factories, it wouldn't burden the rest of us so much. Or send China to the moon, and let India take the land. ;)
You should be grateful that immigrants from India and China come to the US. Thanks to them, the US is a developed, rich country. Mexicans are native americans and that is their land, not some Irish nut job criminals who were dumped here hundreds of years ago. And now their mentally ill useless offsprings Duggers are continuing that path of parasitic existence.

Obviously having eighteen kids isn't for everyone. I know a few people who wouldn't be able to handle even one child, and surely most parents would be pushed to their limit by the time the third or fourth child was born, but, this family is clearly the exception to the rule and has managed to make life functional.
Their parenting success shouldn't be interpreted as advocacy on behalf of the average Joe to have two dozen kids, but if these people are willing and mentally and financially able to properly care for and nurture their kids then why shouldn't they?
Over population is an issue elsewhere in the world, and certainly the repercussions of an increasing population attribute to global problems... But this one family isn't going to make or break a planet, no matter how many generations into the future you attempt to take a glimpse into.
You're an idiot but since you won't be having a bunch of kids at least we don't have to worry about YOU overpopulating the country or the world with more idiots just like you.

Actually, it's been statistically shown that people with higher IQ's tend to have less children than those with lower IQ's. You're clearly someone with a low IQ which is why you don't find anything utterly ridiculous about a woman giving birth to 18 children in an era where it's not necessary.
